Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is ATPLQuestions.com?
  • ATPLQuestions.com is an online question bank and study platform for pilot theory exams. It is not limited to ATPL: we cover ATPL (A), ATPL (H) IR, CPL, IR, PPL (A) & (H) and SACAA PPL (A) & (H) databases, with real exam feedback collected from students after their examinations.
  • The platform is available on the web and as native iOS and Android apps, and it is also used by flight schools (ATOs) through our LMS.

2. Which databases and subjects are covered?
  • EASA 2020 (latest syllabus): the current database, kept in line with the newest syllabus and updated daily. Recommended for studying.
  • EASA 2016 (ECQB 7.0): the older database, still used by some authorities and schools.
  • Other databases: ATPL (H) IR, CPL, IR, PPL (A) & (H) and SACAA PPL (A) & (H).
  • All 14 EASA theory subjects are included — Air Law, Airframe & Systems, Instrumentation, Mass & Balance, Performance, Flight Planning, Human Performance, Meteorology, General Navigation, Radio Navigation, Operational Procedures, Principles of Flight and Communications.
  • The EASA question banks are also compatible with UK CAA exams. If you are unsure which database your exam uses, ask your flight school or your national authority.

3. Are the questions the same as in the real exam?
  • Our database contains a high percentage of real exam questions. Students mark the questions they saw in their official exam, and those markings are reviewed by our team.
  • You can see how often a question has appeared in real exams, in which countries and on which dates, and you can filter your tests by these markings.
  • Questions without markings are still relevant: every question in the bank has already been filtered from a much larger pool, so do not skip a topic just because it shows few markings.

4. Can I track my progress and performance?
  • Yes. Every finished test produces a detailed report with your score, pass/fail result and a breakdown per subject and per sub-topic, so you can see exactly where you are weak.
  • AI Test Analysis reviews each finished test, and AI Performance Insights analyses your whole study history: it summarises your progress, points out your weakest topics and suggests focused practice tests.
  • Your dashboard shows your score trend over time and your pass-rate threshold, and each question shows how other students performed on it.

5. How often is the content updated?
  • New questions and corrections are added every day, based on student feedback, exam markings and syllabus changes.
  • Explanations and questions are reviewed by our editor and instructor team, and feedback you send about a question is reviewed individually.

6. Are explanations provided for the answers?
  • Yes — questions come with detailed explanations prepared by our instructor team, and you can rate them or report a problem in a single click.
  • Selected questions also have video explanations. Instructors and students can submit their own YouTube explanations, which are published after review.

7. How can I customise my tests?
  • Content filters: subjects and sub-topics, Real Exam Questions, the Last 100–1000 most recently marked real exam questions, Except Last Real Exam (skips the ones you already practised), exam authority and country, and minimum number of real-exam appearances.
  • Personal filters: questions you answered incorrectly, questions you have never seen, green/yellow/red flagged questions, pinned or review-marked questions, questions with your notes, and questions you set to "do not show".
  • You can also set the number of questions, shuffle the answers and re-create a new test from any saved test.
  • Please note that there is no "difficulty level" filter — difficulty is not part of the official question bank.

8. What is the difference between Study mode and Exam mode?
  • Study mode: you see the correct answer and the explanation immediately, you can take notes, flag questions and stop or continue whenever you want.
  • Exam mode: a timed simulation in the official exam format with pass-rate scoring, no answers shown until you finish.
  • You can switch between them at any time, and unfinished tests are saved so you can continue later.

9. What other study tools are included?
  • Personal notes on any question, a similar-question finder, community accuracy statistics per question, and a built-in E6B flight computer.
  • Annex and attachment downloads (charts, graphs, reference manuals) from the Downloads section.
  • Saved-test organiser: folders, pinning, favourites, sharing a test with a friend and combining tests of the same subject.
  • Comfort options: dark mode, adjustable font size, auto-next question, hidden timer, keyboard shortcuts and swipe navigation on tablets and phones.

10. Is there a mobile app, and can I study offline?
  • Yes. The ATPL Questions mobile app is available on the App Store and Google Play, and it supports offline studying: you can solve questions without an internet connection and your results are synchronised automatically the next time you are online.
  • The web platform works in any modern browser on computers, tablets and phones, and your progress is shared between the web and the app because it is stored in your account.

11. Is there a free test before subscribing?
  • Yes. Free test sets are available for every database without registration — use the "Free Test" menu on our website to try the real question format, explanations and interface.
  • It is not a time-limited trial: it is a limited set of sample questions, so you can decide before you buy.

12. Is there a community where I can discuss questions?
  • Every question has a comment area where students share their exam experience and discuss the question. An AI summary of long discussions is also generated to save you time.
  • We read every single comment, so there is no need to tag us — tagging is not supported by the system. If something needs correcting, simply write it in your comment and we will take action after review.
  • Please refer to the answer text rather than "A, B, C, D": the answer order changes in every test. You can delete your own comment within 24 hours of posting it.

13. Do you offer support?
  • Yes. Use the contact form on the website or the in-app contact page, and our team will get back to you as soon as possible — usually within one business day.
  • Question-specific problems (wrong answer, unclear explanation, missing annex) are best reported with the feedback button on the question itself, so it reaches the editor team directly.

14. How do I subscribe, and how long is a subscription valid?
  • Create a free account, then choose a package on the E-Shop page. Full-access packages are available for 2, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, and there is also a single-subject package.
  • Your access is valid for the duration of the package you purchased, for the database category it covers.

15. When does a new package start if I already have one?
  • If you have no active package of the same type, it starts immediately.
  • If a package of the same type is already active, the new one queues up and starts automatically when the current one ends — buying early never wastes a day.
  • ATPL and PPL are separate types, so an ATPL and a PPL package can run side by side at the same time.

16. What happens to my data when my subscription ends?
  • Your tests, notes, flags and statistics are kept, so if you buy a new package later you continue exactly where you left off.
  • Please note the 1-year inactivity limit: accounts with no login for one year — with or without an active package — are permanently deleted together with all their data. Logging in once resets the clock.

17. What payment methods are accepted?
  • Major credit and debit cards and PayPal. The available options are shown during checkout and may vary by country.
  • Payments are processed by licensed payment providers; we never store your card details.
  • If you need an invoice with your company or personal details, add them in your profile before the purchase or contact support afterwards.

18. Can I cancel, modify or refund my subscription?
  • Subscriptions are one-off purchases for a fixed period; there is no automatic renewal to cancel.
  • ATPLQuestions.com has no refund policy on purchased subscriptions. Modifying a purchased subscription is only possible under special circumstances — please contact support with your request.

19. Can I share my account with a friend?
  • No. Accounts are for a single user only, and logins are recorded. Sharing your username and password cancels your subscription without refund.
  • Your account is registered to you personally. If you let others use it, transfer it or sell it and illegal activity is carried out with it, legal action will be taken.
  • Bot activity (scraping questions or harming the website) has been detected on resold accounts and legal proceedings were started — never sell, transfer or share your account.

20. Do you offer anything for flight schools (ATOs)?
  • Yes. Our LMS gives flight schools a dedicated interface to follow their students' progress and to assign customised tests and exams from the question bank.
  • Students of a partner school see their school in their account and can log in to their LMS account from the platform. For school pricing and setup, please contact us through the contact form.

21. Is ATPLQuestions.com affiliated with any official aviation authority?
  • No. ATPLQuestions.com is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any official aviation regulatory body. We align our content with the requirements and syllabi published by the relevant authorities, but the official exam is always the authority's own.

22. What is the "ECQB-PPL"?
  • ECQB-PPL stands for “European Central Question Bank for Private Pilot Licences“. It is an international question bank for private pilot licences, based on European regulations and standards. It is also ICAO-compliant and adaptable to regional needs, so it can be used in non-European countries as well.

23. Who develops the "ECQB-PPL"?
  • The ECQB-PPL has been continuously developed since 2010. Both new and existing questions go through a review process based on international standards, with attention to clear wording and relevant content. An international team of experts from various areas of aviation works on it constantly.

24. Are there differences of the ECQB-PPL in different countries?
  • The ECQB-PPL is an international database with generally applicable questions. However, because of regional particularities and local requirements, the authorities in some countries (e.g. Malta, South Africa) may add their own questions.

25. Which attachments appear in the examination; are they known or unknown?
  • Complex attachments (maps, graphs) are included in the attachment reference manual, which can be downloaded from the Downloads section of your account. Some attachments — navigation charts, for example — are printed by the examination authority and handed out on paper during the exam.
