Which of the following indication is provided by the capacitive fuel quantity measurement system?
  • A
    Fuel density-volume.
  • B
    Fuel inductance.
  • C
    Fuel mass.
  • D
    Fuel volume.
The capacitance-type fuel gauging system measures the fuel volume by measuring the capacitance, which depends on the proportion of dielectrics (fuel and air) within the tanks. A compensating unit is located at the bottom of the tank in the unusable fuel area. It is always immersed in fuel so that it will measure the actual capacitance of the fuel. This will allow the compensating (reference) unit to convert the measured volume of fuel into a mass and display the indication on the cockpit instrument.
In other words, capacitance-type fuel gauging systems measure volume and indicate the mass.
