Refer to figure.
What is the deviation when flying on a heading of 239°(C)?
  • A
    1°W
  • B
    1°E
  • C
    -1
  • D
    0

Deviation East Compass is Least, Deviation West Compass is Best (Than Magnetic).

From the deviation card shown, it says that if you want to fly heading 240°, you have to steer 239° on the compass which the card attached to it.

That means, 1° must be subtracted from desired heading, so the compass in this sector reads less than the desired magnetic heading, as compass is least so the deviation is to the east by 1°.
